Patricia Koppa – My Life and Activities
1960 Born in Wausau. First of four children. Attended GD Jones Elementary for Kindergarten and First grade. Holy Name for grades 2 – 8. Graduated from Wausau West High School in 1979.
1978 – Present Attend EAA AirVenture Oshkosh annual convention, volunteer majority of days in attendance and usually the full week; 1988 – 1990 Saturday volunteering, worked on several permanent museum displays and aircraft for EAA AirVenture Museum. Worked on restoration currently displayed at the Udvar-Hazy Center of National Air and Space Museum. Currently attend weekend work parties several time each summer. Received multiple Service Recognition awards.
1979 – 1982 UW – Stevens Point, Bachelor of Science Degree, Political Science Major. Volunteered with Student Legal Aid office.
1982 – Dec. 1984 University of Wisconsin Law School. Positions including research assistant, internship with Court of Appeals.
1985 (May) – 1993 Associate, Muchin, Muchin, Bendix and Skolas, S.C. Moved to Manitowoc 1985.
1985 – Present Manitowoc County Bar Association, 1992 – 1997 Secretary/ Treasurer.
1985 – Present Wisconsin State Bar. 1994 – 1997 Board Member, Bankruptcy and Creditor Rights Section.
1988 – Present Local EAA Chapter 383. Served as Treasurer for 6 years, President for 4 years. Worked with Young Eagle days and other youth programs.
1989 Married John (Jack) Bruce; daughters, Catherine and Carolyn, born 1991 and 1993. Girls attended St. Francis De Sales, St. Frances Cabrini and Roncalli High School. Both are graduates of the University of Wisconsin.

1993 – 1997 Patricia A. Koppa Law Office. Solo Practice including position as contract Guardian ad Litem for Circuit Court Br. 1 (Judge Allan Deehr).
1993 – 2014 Organizing committee of Manitowoc County Airport Day/ Thunder on the Lakeshore. Manned the headquarters for vendor assistance, volunteer check-in and general administration during event.
1996 – Present Girl Scout Volunteer. Initially Troop Leader at St Francis de Sales. Served additionally as school organizer, trainer and member of Gold and Silver Award Alliance. Continue as Troop Leader at Manitowoc Monroe School. Recipient of Outstanding Volunteer Award, Outstanding Leader Award and Honor pin.
1996 – 2011 Volunteered at St Francis De Sales, including serving as Home and School Association vice president, Cookie Walk Chairperson; at St. Frances Cabrini, including serving as Home and School Association secretary, Cheerleading coach; volunteered at Roncalli High School various roles with theater/choral programs, auction.
1997 – Present Manitowoc County Register in Probate/Circuit Court Commissioner. Began Commissioner duties on March 31, Register duties July 12. Commissioner responsibilities include small claims, bail hearings, civil forfeitures, CHIPS and juvenile pleas, CHIPS and juvenile temporary physical custody hearings, temporary restraining orders and injunction hearings, family and paternity matters, civil commitment probable cause hearings, adult and minor guardianship hearings, protective placement hearings, annual protective placement reviews and other miscellaneous actions. Register also serves as a commissioner for all formal probate and summary estate proceedings and as Probate Registrar for all informal probate actions. Register is responsible for maintaining court files and records regarding all estate matters, guardianships and protective placements including annual reviews, annual accounts and annual reports, adoptions, civil commitments. Until change of law in 2014, responsible for monitoring Trust annual accountings.
1997 – Present Member Wisconsin Register in Probate Association. 2005 – Present WRIPA Forms Committee. 2007 Recognized by Elder Law Section of State Bar of Wisconsin for work on Guardianship Forms in preparation for Guardianship Reform Act implementation. 2014 – Present Co-updater for WRIPA website and responsible for answering public email questions to site. 2015 – 2017 WRIPA Secretary. 2017 – Present WRIPA President.

2007 – 2011 Records Management Committee, Supreme Court of Wisconsin.
2012 – Present Manitowoc County Juvenile Justice Committees. Participating in county and state reform efforts. Attended National conferences and site visit sponsored by Annie E. Cassie Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative.
2014 – Present Manitowoc County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. Helped organize effort for County Board approval and creation. Serving as Council Secretary until Coordinator is hired in 2017.

2017 – Present CCAP Steering Committee, Supreme Court of Wisconsin.
2017 Inductee, Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
Continues to reside in Manitowoc with Jack and two cats. Hobbies – when able – gardening, sewing, and international and domestic travel. For everyday relaxing, plays casual computer games.
